String quilting method, cotton fabric.
This was part of a MICA Quilt Club commission from the Reginald F Lewis Museum. The quilt was made using fabrics containing the museum’s colors of red, yellow, and black.

Along with others in the MICA Quilt Club, the Reginald F Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD commissioned 2 quilts to be made commemorating black history in Baltimore & Maryland.
Made for the “Our Endangered Planet Quilt,” as part of the MICA Quilt Club + AAQB project. Made with cotton and silk. Log cabin quilting, freehand embroidery. Part of the piece was made using fabrics dyed from avocado pits, marigold, and fresh indigo. Marigold and fresh indigo are from my garden.

Hand sewn using English Paper Piecing method. Cotton fabric used from the sash of a bespoke garment made for my mother in Bermuda, 1969. Completed quilt can be seen here.

Customized Merchant and Mills pattern (bust dart adjustment). Cotton ribbing, wool/linen double cloth. Machine sewn.
Improvized pattern. Cotton fabric, machine and hand sewn. Minimal embroidery. Filling contains buckwheat hulls.
Silk fabric. Acid dyes. Wood blocks, clothes pins, clamps. Part of MICA’s Staff Professional Development Day.
Two panels hung and offset. One panel is an abstraction of the body’s skeletal and neurological processes. The other is of a pattern used to evoke vertebral movement through the use of network drafting.
Woven on an eight harness floor loom. Needle felting, embroidery, double cloth pocket, double cloth with pick-up, macrame.

Linen warp. EL wire, crayons, melted crayon wax, bubble wrap, wire, artist tape.
Original project was to weave a continuous length of fabric, experimenting with weave patterns, different materials, etc. I recreated it into a wall hanging that emphasizes the topography of weaving.

Reversible Day-to-Night Wiksten Patterns Haori - Natural washed linen, and silver pigment printed linen. The pigment printed linen was sanded in areas to create a less polished/more distressed look.

Merchant and Mills Garment Workbook Pattern. Twill fabric acted like denim. Sized up to wash down to my size, creating a denim-wash look.

Self-drafted hat pattern with brown corners appliqué. Wool yarn. Face paint.
Neon Yellow and Neon Orange DMC embroidery floss & Reflective Yarn.
Purl Soho Pattern. Magic loop toe-up method.

Linen fabric and DMC embroidery floss.
Handmade sweater & firefly hair clip. Used spirit gum to temporarily glue a giant button to my eye. Denim jeggings and docs from 1995.
Self-drafted cut and sew “sweater”, dyed blue and then painted with watered down metallic fabric paint. Leftover CVC jersey knit from office sample room. Got heather effect by dyeing with a reactive dye so the polyester content stayed a grey color. Machine Sewn.

Commissioned dog sweater design for a small dog named Groucho. The owner wanted to emphasize his love for Troy, NY.

Needle felted wool fiber sculpted into a cocoon like shape, stuffed with polyfill and large individual LED lights taped to watch batteries.
I don’t have an example of the finished pillow, but this was a design for a baby pillow. The concept was a small pillow that had an appliquéd owl on one side, and the head of a Transformer on the other side. The shape happened to work on both sides.

Concept piece for architectural studio assignment to make a light. The idea was to make a comfort pillow for children in the event they wake up at night. The soft light and warmth of the pillow was intended to be soothing.
Hand knitted pillow external cover. Light pink wool yarn. Zippered internal sack made up of projection voile and stuffed with fiber fill, plastic bead pellets, and rope light.
